Borage is such a sensuous plant with its delicate blue flowers - so beautiful to the eyes, surprisingly refreshing to taste, and so very light in the heart! 

Borage is also a total bee magnet! Plant borage and your garden will just be humming with life.

Growth Habit: Bushy, 2-3 foot high plants

Sun Requirements: Full sun to partial shade

Soil Preference: Moist, well drained soil

When to Plant:  Mid to late Spring when soil is warmed. Direct sow, as Borage has delicate taproots that can be fussy to transplant. Seeds should germinate in 15-20 days. 

How to Plant:  Sow Borage seeds ½ inch deep. Thin seedlings to 12”. Water thoroughly after planting. 

When to Harvest: Harvest fresh leaves and flowers through Summer and into Fall. Borage will survive a light frost. 

How to Harvest:  Harvest young leaves in Summer. Pick fresh flowers as they open, leaving some for the bees. 

Uses: Use young leaves in salads or pesto. Enjoy edible flowers fresh or dried. Add Borage flowers to salads, desserts, or ice cubes for a cooling cucumber flavor.
